Leave And Cleave

Matthew 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Isn’t it interesting that God did not say that women are to leave their father and mother and cleave to their husbands, and yet men are to.

For years there have been two secular schools of thought about men and women. Some have said that their character and traits have everything to do with how they are raised and their environment. The philosophy of the parents and society determine that guys are rough and ladies are gentle.

Existing on the same plane is the school of thought that men are from Mars and women are from Venus. That the average woman, no matter what society says, will have female characteristics and men will have male characteristics. This idea has come closer to reality.

There was a reason that Paul said the men are to love their wives and wives are to submit or respect their husbands. Men desire to be respected and women desire to be loved.

The same is true leaving and cleaving. It has been discovered that the reason that women don’t leave their families is because the man has not left his and established a home for her. They may have left the family but not emotionally.

If he will man up and build a safe place of nurture, care, love and understanding then the woman does not have to be directed to leave the family. Yes, I added understanding and blogged about this before.

1 Peter 3:7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

Therefore, if you do not attempt to understand your wife then your prayers might be hindered.

Be a man and leave and cleave to your wife. Provide her the home where she will be more than happy to move in with you emotionally.
