Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

The word for dominion is an example of free choice that God has given to us. Each translator has had two choice in which to translate the Hebrew word “Ve-re-doo.” It could either mean to fall down or it could mean to rule. Out problem is that we want to think in English to understand the Hebrew Bible.

So, let’s think like a Hebrew. Which of the two definitions is correct? They have a saying that says, “Men can be better than angels and worse than an animal.” They understand it as being written in both definitions. It is not either or. Man can rule or fall.

It is in this verse that we see that God has put into motion the element by which we were created with to chose to rise or fall. It was then in Chapter 3 that Adam and Eve chose to put it to the test.

  • You have a free will in which you can choose to follow God’s ways or fall.
  • You have a free will in which you can choose to make something of your life or fall.
  • You have a free will in which you can choose to build a relationship or fall.
  • You have a free will in which you can grow in leadership or fall.
