Jesus said that the greatest command is to love God and the second one, which is like it, was to love your neighbor as you love yourself. But, did you know that the command to love God is not the most frequent command?
The most frequent command give was “fear not” or “don’t be afraid.”
Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
John wrote that perfect love casts out fear in 1 John 4:18.
Does that mean that we have nothing to fear? Yes and no. There are many things things that we face such as finances, doctors report, raising kids, peer pressure, dating, the boss, the marriage; all of these and more will bring fear to our doorsteps. The command? Fear not.
NOTE: Have you ever heard that “Fear Not” is mentioned 365 times in the Bible, one for every day of the year? At the very best it is mentioned in one form or another about 100 times and it all depends upon what translation you use.
