Genesis 2:18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
The KJV calls her a “help meet.” This is not a maid nor a servant. The Hebrew word used here is “Aizer” which means helper, but with a deeper meaning.
The first letter is “Ayin” which was a picture of an eye. It means to see.
The second letter is the “Zayin” which means weapon or sword. What is interesting is that the root word for this letter means nourishment. It is a duo role.
The last letter for helper is a “Resh” which means beginning.
- God gave man a helper who sees needs better than the man does. Have you not heard of women’s intuition?
- She is also the nurturer who is always giving. She will also defend as one who has a sword drawn, if her family is attached.
- Finally, all life begins in the woman, something that we have always known.
She becomes this super helper when marriage begins. It is not something that she earns but it is something that she was created with.
Is this hard to understand? Well, if you are man, according to 1 Peter 3:7 we are instructed to understand our wives and give them honor or our prayers could be hindered. Man, take time to understand and appreciate your helper.
